The ceremony is presided over by a priest who guides the couple through the various rituals:

1. Var Mala (Jaimala): The ceremony begins with the exchange of garlands between the bride and groom, symbolizing their acceptance of each other and the start of their lifelong journey together.

2. Kanyadaan: This is a touching and pivotal moment where the bride's parents lovingly give away their daughter to the groom, signifying the transition from her maternal home to her husband's home.

3. Mangal Fera (Pheras): The sacred fire, symbolizing purity and the Divine witness, takes center stage as the couple takes seven rounds around it. Each round, known as a "Phera," represents a vow and commitment they make to each other, including promises of love, trust, and mutual support.

4. Sindoor Daan: The groom applies sindoor (vermilion) on the bride's hair-parting, symbolizing her marital status and the beginning of a lifelong bond.

5. Mangalsutra: The groom adorns the bride with a mangalsutra - a sacred necklace with a pendant, symbolizing their eternal connection and commitment to one another.

6. Saptapadi: The couple takes seven steps together, signifying the journey through the seven stages of life while seeking blessings for a happy and prosperous life ahead.
